About Shot from Guns

It has been almost six years since the release of “Technicolor Episode” and Bain Mattox has found himself at fresh beginnings. With a new band in tow called Shot from Guns, Bain is ready to unleash his new material on an unsuspecting audience.

Since the release of his first record, Bain has released three more recordings (Self Titled-2003, Prizefighter-2005 and Bird in the Hand-2007) and has toured relentlessly (160 + shows a year) in support of them. He has covered much ground throughout the US and has garnished national attention (see credits below) with is own brand of Americana folk/rock. Instruments such as the accordion, banjo and mandolin are common in Bain’s songwriting. The unique instruments offer a fresh take on a style of music that has been evolving throughout the years. Lyrically Bain is nothing short of a modern day poet. Shot from Guns drummer Chris Wilkes say this, “Bain’s songs mean one thing to him. However, I’ve found them to be so poetic that any listener could draw a different meaning entirely. We are extremely lucky to be in a musical situation with such an authentic American singer/songwriter.”

Shot from Guns consists of Christopher Skogen (guitars, noise, and vocals), Michael Lamond (bass, vocals) and Chris Wilkes (drums, vocals). “I wanted to give my band an identity”, says Bain. “They have been with me through a lot and contribute musically to my songs.” In late 2007 the band began recording new material that they had been performing at various shows. They decided to record the songs with a different producer and engineer for each song and have also decided to release the songs one by one via the internet. Look for the release of these tunes sometime in 2008.
